As Winter approaches, people who are homeless or rough sleeping have an incredibly tough few months ahead of them. Local charities and community groups are working to protect this vulnerable group of people and are doing all they can to offer support, from delivering food and toiletries to those who are temporarily housed, to providing mental health and welfare guidance. 🏠 🍲MK YMCA Winter Night Shelter MK and Smart CJS – thank you for inspiring us through the amazing work you’re doing to help improve the lives of such vulnerable people within Milton Keynes.

At the start of lockdown, the Winter Night Shelter closed for homeless guests, but remained open to support those newly housed in temporary accommodation. Within a month they were regularly supporting over 60 people who were temporarily housed with no income streams (such as people from probation, veterans, and EEA nationals stuck in the UK while the UK was in lockdown). Overall, they supported 140 adults, 33 children and 42 family pets.
