Stronger Communities

Stronger Communities

The pandemic has encouraged our local community to work together, not only to protect each other, but to check in on the vulnerable and be there for those who may need support or comfort. If there is one uplifting element to lockdown, it has been seeing how people have reached out to those in need and the collective, communal support. 🏘️ The following groups have helped build stronger communities during the Covid-19 pandemic: Irish Welfare Support Group and Community Action MK – well done and thank you!

MK Irish Welfare Support Group supported 90 people aged 60 and over in one of their projects where they delivered ‘goody bags’ to the elderly lunch club members, containing a range of items such as puzzles, playing cards and biscuits. On top of this, they have carried out essential shopping trips and phone calls to help those suffering from loneliness
